The inquest which began on September 29, 2023, seeks to unravel the cause of death of the singer.

Mohbad passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023. He was buried the following day.

On September 21, his body was exhumed for an autopsy at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), which revealed no significant findings that could be attributed to his death.

The toxicology report did detect the presence of Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine, but not in a concentration considered fatal.

Mohbad’s family had rejected the results and demanded an independent investigation.

According to Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba legal team, a two-part autopsy is currently underway, with the first phase completed and the second part involving toxicology and histology tests.

Alobad had also insisted that Mohbad would not be reburied until a DNA test was conducted on Liam, the singer’s son with Omowunmi. He suggested that a potential DNA test on Liam could have been a factor in the singer’s death. He added that he would reveal who allegedly killed Mohbad after a DNA test had been conducted on Liam.

During the court sitting on Wednesday, Adeyemo, also Mohbad’s nephew, narrated the incidents leading to the singer’s demise.

During cross-examination, Adeyemo, popularly known as Da Rosa, revealed that he had been Mohbad’s manager for over five years and lived with him in their early 20s.

He told the Ikorodu magistrate court that Mohbad had a scuffle with Ibrahim ‘Primeboy’ Owodunni two days before his death, resulting in a minor arm injury.

The witness said Omowunmi, Mohbad’s wife, informed him that the singer began convulsing after receiving three tetanus injections from a nurse.

Additionally, Adeyemo alleged that Mohbad’s father insisted on burying his son immediately after receiving N2 million from Davido.

He claimed he transferred N1 million to Aloba. He alleged that after settling hospital bills and ambulance rental fees, he gave the remaining amount to Adura, Mohbad’s younger brother.

Adeyemo also revealed that the investigators came to search Mohbad’s apartment and took custody of the late singer’s phone.

He also claimed the CCTV installed in Mohbad’s apartment had not functioned for over two months and could not have captured the incident.

Wahab Shittu, the counsel for Aloba, told the coroner that Sam Larry, the show promoter, and Naira Marley, the singer, did not appear before the court.

Shittu requested the court to compel Larry and Marley to appear before the coroner. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria also advocated for an investigation into the components of the injections administered to Mohbad.

Adedayo Shotobi, the coroner magistrate, adjourned the case till September 30, 2024.
