Dr Roy David, the music producer, has revealed that Mercy Chinwo, the gospel singer, was unaware of the “unfair” treatment he suffered under EeZee Conteptz, the record label where they both worked together.
Roy also spoke about his withheld royalties under the label in a recent interview on the Honest Bunch podcast.
The music producer accused EeZee Tee of maltreatment, arguing that the record label boss withheld his financial gains after he produced ‘Excess Love’ and other hit tracks of Chinwo.
He alleged that EeZee Tee gave him N140,000 as a payoff for his work.
He also claimed the label boss did not help him when his father died after battling with stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes.
He added that the ‘Excess Love’ hitmaker later gave his family some money.
“Mercy no know wetin dey happen for all these things. My chairman was someone like if he has a grudge against you, every other person in the company will hold a grudge against you. Mercy Chinwo no beef me. She no know wetin dey happen,” he said.
“Even when my father was sick, she did not know. So when my father died, I still reached out to the Chairman sey my papa don die, anything wey you fit support me.
“Na this mummy Tope con reach out to Mercy that my papa don die. Mercy con call me. Send money for my mother, send money for me. She said anyhow that she did not know my father was sick all this while.
“She did not even know that I was not collecting anything.”
Roy recently clarified that he did not accuse Mercy of withholding his royalties.
