Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, says he has done more for tourism than culture or information.
He said this when the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) came knocking at his doors.
Reacting to criticism of his obsession to government information, he told his visitors that he has done more for tourism than culture or information.
“Tourism has taken more of my time, in fact, I’m for tourism development and had shown and will continue to drive its capacity as a business and not “Owambe” as some people seem to ascribe to it,” he said.
He said tourism can serve as a great source of revenue generation if the potentials are efficiently utilised and maximised.
Mohammed advised Nigerians to drive visits across our vast virgin tourist locations, promising to embark on first-hand visits across the six geopolitical zones to learn and appreciate “Tourism clusters” as captured by TMP.
Meanwhile, he disclosed that a draft legislation to back effective funding for the sector is in the works while vowing to give his political support to the lawmaker presenting the draft bill.
