In an Instagram post on Thursday, the actor opens up on being suicidal in the past while reacting to the death of Stephen Boss.

Stephen, who was the longtime disc jockey (DJ) on Ellen DeGeneres‘ talk show, died on Tuesday. The DJ was reported to have committed suicide.

In the post, Remi said he can relate to one being depressed and suicidal because of his experience in 2017.

He said he was “overwhelmed” with his career and relationship to the point of almost taking his life.

“I remember in 2017, I had a series of tweets that I deleted because it was very suicidal. I was going through a lot, I was overwhelmed, I didn’t know what I was, I was thinking of career and relationship too much, I was stressed,” he said.

“At a point, I could not take it, I felt useless, and incompetent even tho it was contrary to what was happening. I was very close to actually jumping into the bridge or just taking my life.

“It took God’s grace to scale through. I usually bottle up, and I don’t share stuff but I have learned to become better. I’m sending the word out to all men out there. ‘It isn’t easy, it isn’t going to be easy but always talk to someone’. We will still have someone in our corner whom we can talk and open up to.

“Life is beautiful, life doesn’t guarantee it will always be smooth but we need to always choose a balance between happiness and sadness, let’s do better.”
