TMPL Motion Pictures, the production arm of The Temple Company, has unveiled a new television series titled ‘Japada’.
The production company, in a statement, revealed that ‘Japada’ will highlight the inspiring journeys of Nigerians who have returned home after living abroad.
“The show celebrates their achievements and promotes a sense of national pride at a time Nigeria is challenged with brain drain and other adverse economic effects of mass migration,” the statement reads.
The show, which premieres nationwide on Friday, October 3, is hosted by Mimi Onalaja, a media personality, actor, and brand influencer.
“The weekly airing schedule includes Fridays on NTA 2 Lagos from 7:30pm to 8pm on, Sundays on TVC News from 12:30pm to 1pm and Mondays on NTA Network from 5:30pm to 6pm,” it added.
Each episode of ‘Japada’ will delve into the reverse-migration stories of featured guests, exploring how their global experiences have been transformed into contributions to national growth.
The programme will also capture their struggles and triumphs while offering viewers an engaging “Nigerian by Design” game segment.
Guests on the show cut across various sectors, including healthcare, entrepreneurship, technology, arts, and social advocacy.
Among them are Kofo Ogunyakin and Yemi Johnson, who left the United Kingdom and the United States to establish First Cardiology Consultants, one of Nigeria’s leading heart care facilities.
Award-winning actresses Shaffy Bello and Osas Ighodaro also feature in separate episodes, reflecting on their decisions to leave behind opportunities abroad in order to build successful careers in Nollywood.
Kolawole Fashola, supervising producer of the show, described ‘Japada’ as “an inspired idea” and a national responsibility.
“The production of the TV show was essential, and the story was eagerly awaiting its telling,” he said.
“We at The Temple Company and our subsidiary, TMPL Motion Pictures, took on this project as a national assignment to kick-start conversations about nation-building, especially among young people.
“We hope to spark optimism and encourage a collective effort toward building a better Nigeria.”
