Harnaaz Sandhu of India has been crowned the winner of the Miss Universe 2021.

The pageant took place in the early hours of Monday at the Red Sea resort in Eilat, Israel with 80 women from around the world competing for the crown.

The competition, which was hosted by Steve Harvey, the US comedian and TV host, saw contestants eliminated at various rounds narrowing down the number of finalists till the last two.

The top 10 showed off intricately bedazzled full-length gowns in either gold, silver, or bronze.

Sandhu won the top prize while Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira and South Africa’s Lalela Mswane finished up as the first and second runner up respectively.

The 21-year-old was presented the crown by Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, at the event which was live-streamed globally.

Meza was on May 17 crowned winner of the 69th edition after the competition had to be postponed for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Miss Universe pageant was founded in 1952 and currently just rounded up its 70th edition.
