Elba said he was tested for the killer virus last Friday after someone he knew had been exposed to tested positive.
The tweet was accompanied with a video of Sabrina Dhowre, the actor’s wife, standing beside him as he added: “I didn’t have any symptoms. I got tested because I realized I was exposed to someone who had also tested positive. I found out last Friday that they were tested positive. I quarantined myself and got a test immediately and got the results back today.”
Elba, who is known for his role as Heimdall in ‘Avengers’, Marvel film, is the latest high profile star to share news of his coronavirus diagnosis.
Last week, Tom Hanks, an American filmmaker, had tested positive for the virus alongside Rita Wilson, his wife.
Olga Kurylenko, Ukrainian-born French actress and model, also announced that she has strain of the COVID-19.
In February, TheCable Lifestyle had reported how the publicity tour for ‘No Time to Die’, the twenty-fifth installment of the ‘James Bond’ film series, billed for Beijing, was canceled while the film release was delayed by seven months due to coronavirus.
