Forty contestants have been selected from the live and online auditions of the Hennessy Artistry VS Class Season V across the country.
The battleground featuring the selected contestants will now move to radio.
For the next five weeks, Hennessy Artistry VS Class Season V contestants will spar on Beat FM 99.9 Lagos.
According to the orgnisers, “they will go bar for bar at each other, until only the bests emerge on top weekly on Thursdays and get closer to earning the bragging rights as the eventual leader of the 2018 VS Class.
“With a total of 23 emcees picked from live auditions in Benin, Abuja, Lagos and seventeen (17) selected from the online entries; the total of 40 contesting rappers would be coming for blood and the millions of radio audience expected, are in for a treat.
“This year, five (5) unscarred emcees will step up at the end of the 5 week – long radio battle, and to shake things up, the judges who are ace rapper Vector, Jimmie the Hype-man and radio host/Hip-Hop enthusiast Sam Douglas would be on the look out for their wildcard selection of 3 other exceptionally dope contestants from the mix, to make a final list of eight (8), who will engage in the final lyrical warfare to become the number 1 MC in Nigeria!
“The rappers will be looking to own the night, when the show airs weekly on Thursday nights from 10pm to Midnight. Vector, Jimmie and Sam Douglas will be joined by guest judges every week from tonight Thursday – August 30th, continuing Hennessy’s fine support and curation of art in Nigeria.”
Franklyn Ikemefuna – who goes by the stage name Vader – emerged as Nigeria’s hottest MC last season.
