Portable, the fast-rising controversial singer, has threatened to “kill” whoever is given The Headies award in the categories he was nominated for — if he doesn’t win.
The organisers of the award announced the nominees for this year’s edition on Tuesday.
The ‘Zazuu Zeh’ crooner bagged two nominations in the ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Best Street-Hop Artiste’ categories.
In the ‘Rookie of the Year’ category, he is expected to compete with Av, Fave, Magixx, and Ugoccie.
For the second category, Portable will slug it out with Bella Shmurda, Mohbad, Naira Marley, and Goya Menor among others.
But in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, the singer claimed the other nominees are no match for him because his song is known worldwide.
“Thank God, Headies has nominated me for best street-hop artiste of the year. Who wan check am?” Portable asked.
“I’m still the owner of the rookie of the year award. Who doesn’t know Zazuu? Aboki, Hausa, Igbo, who doesn’t know my song? Even those abroad listen to me.
“All those awards, I own them. Whoever is given those awards apart from me, I’ll ask them to kill the person. I’ll just ask them to kill you.
“Give unto Caesar what is for Caesar. My award, give it to me. Don’t give my award to another person, if you do, you will die.”
It remains to be seen if he is merely joking or serious about the death threat.
