Will Smith, US actor, and South Korea’s O Yeong-su from the ‘Squid Game’, the survival drama series, are among the winners of the 2022 Golden Globe Awards.


On Sunday, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organisers of the award, revealed the winners of the 79th Golden Globe at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA, California.

It awarded film and TV productions from 2021 but was no audience at the show due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.

Smith won the ‘Best Performance by an Actor in Motion Picture, Drama’ while O Yeong-su won the category ‘Best Supporting Actor in TV’ for his role in ‘Squid Game’.


Australia’s Nicole Kidman, Sarah Snook, and Kodi Smit-McPhee also won big.

Kidman won ‘Best Actress in a Drama’ for playing Lucille Ball in Amazon Prime’s ‘Being the Ricardos’.

Snook won ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for her role in HBO’s drama ‘Succession’.


Smit-McPhee won ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his role in Netflix’s ‘The Power of the Dog’.

New Zealand’s Jane Campion won the ‘Best Director’ for ‘Power of the Dog’.

‘West Side Story’ similarly scooped up awards for its stars, including the ‘Best Musical or Comedy film’ category.
