Michael Jackson, late US singer and songwriter, has emerged the highest-earning dead celebrity for 2019 — and for the seventh year in a row.

According to Forbes, the late ‘King of Pop’ took the top spot after his estate made over $60 million in the last 12 months.

The result was arrived at by measuring the pretax income of dead celebrities for a period of one year — October 1, 2018 to October 1, 2019 — alongside data from Nielsen Music, IMDBPro and interviews with industry insiders.

“The King of Pop’s streaming surged despite recent controversy: 2.1 billion U.S. spins, up from 1.8 billion a year ago. With proceeds flowing from his Mijac Music catalog, a Las Vegas show and a long-term deal with Sony, he retains his postmortem cash crown for the seventh consecutive year,” Forbes said.

Elvis Presley, famous singer and actor, came second on the list with $39 million, while Charles Schulz, prominent cartoonist, secured third position with $38 million pretax income.

Bob Marley rounded out the top five after raking in over $20 million, while Nipsey Hussle, who was shot and killed earlier this year, was in 10th place with over $11 million.

This makes it the seventh time Jackson will emerge the highest earning celebrity in a spin.
