A female student of the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa state, has allegedly killed her newborn baby inside the school hostel.
The lady, whose identity remains unknown, was said to have given birth to the infant and then threw the baby from the top floor of a three-storey hostel building.
The incident was said to have taken place on Monday.
In a now-viral video, some students of the varsity can be seen inquiring why the mother committed the act.
“You can see this girl o. Why did you do this?” one of the students asked.
Another footage showed some students screaming as they watched the lifeless body of baby on the floor.
In the clip, the varsity’s department of works came in a vehicle to take the deceased baby and mother away.
When contacted by TheCable Lifestyle on Tuesday, Lawan Shiishu Adam, the Jigawa police spokesperson, said they are investigating the matter and will provide more details later.
The police officer added that he could not confirm the incident as of the time he was contacted.
“We are investigating the matter. I do not know if the matter has been reported yet. Allow me to confirm from the video so that I can feed you back,” he said.
