Hank Kunneman, an American pastor, says God will protect the United States from the coronavirus because the Donald Trump’s administration has lived in alignment to his will.
In a video making the rounds, the clergyman, who is a senior pastor of the Lord of Hosts Church, also claimed that the “coronavirus is the spirit of God”, who has now opened a “window of mercy.”
Coronavirus has killed at least 2,118, infected 74,576 people, and spread to about 28 countries across the globe ever since the disease broke out in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
As of February 17, the US had confirmed 15 cases of the deadly disease, with the most recent case being a passenger on an evacuation flight from China who had been under quarantine in Texas.
But on Sunday, February 9, Kunnenmean, a right wing pastor in Nebraska, said Americans should not fear an infection from the virus because God will grant “mercy,” thanks to Trump’s administration.
“Listen to the words that I speak to you this moment says the living God, the United States, for I have spoken to you before and I speak to you again,” he can be heard prophesying.
“I have extended and opened a window of mercy to this nation at this time. Therefore the virus that they speak of, the bright prognostication, the diagnosis, the fear, my mercy is the quarantine.
“That shall be greater than what they have spoken to you, United States. And because of the administration that stands in this land, who honour me; who honour the covenant of your forefathers…
“…because they have aligned themselves with Israel, and because they have sided on the right side of life, life in the womb and outside the womb, therefore I give life to this nation and I give mercy.
“Do not fear. This virus is the spirit of God.”

Kunnenman isn’t the only clergy who has been propagating a religious perspective to the advent of the epidemic.
Gloria Copeland, an internationally renowned televangelist, was also quoted in the video as saying that patients don’t need to get a shot for the flu as being in God is just as protective as vaccines.
“Don’t receive it when you’re threatened with, ‘everybody’s getting the flu!’ We’ve already had our shot, he bore our sickness and carried our diseases. Jesus gave us the flu shot,” the evangelist said.
