Doyin David, the former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate, has struggled to answer a basic current affairs question on who Nigeria’s Nobel laureate is.
The reality TV star was a guest on Channel TV’s Morning Brief where she participated in a short quiz session.
Doyin was first asked about the duration of a presidential term.
She responded, “first term is four years right? Is it not? But they usually go on two terms. No one has ever gone one term”.
When questioned about the identity of the inspector general of police, Doyin swiftly said, “I do not know that man, I am so sorry. That is just the truth, I do not know”.
Finally, she was asked about Nigeria’s Nobel laureate.
Doyin said “I do not know” and explained that her expertise lies in entertainment.
“Again, I do not know. I am in entertainment. Ask me about entertainment,” she said.
However, with a hint from the host about Wole Soyinka’s appearance, she eventually guessed correctly.
Soyinka is a renowned playwright and novelist.
He is most celebrated for his literary contributions. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986.
Doyin gained fame during the ‘Level Up’ edition of the BBNaija show in 2022.
The reality TV star returned as a contestant in the 2023 All-Stars season — which was won by Ilebaye Odiniya.
Since leaving the BBNaija house, she has transitioned into being a podcast host and brand influencer.
