Falz had joined Mr Macaroni, a comedian, to lead a car procession at the Lekki tollgate axis of Lagos state.

The procession is to commemorate the shooting of unarmed #EndSARS protesters by the Nigerian army in October 2020.

The pair turned up in their vehicles on Wednesday, chanting solidarity songs while they waved the Nigerian flag.

The police had earlier warned that anyone seen at the Lekki tollgate without an ID card would be arrested.

In a viral video monologue, Falz said he was surprised to see the massive crowd that showed up for the memorial.

The rapper also said he and his team would ensure that those arrested will regain their freedom.

“It’s very emotional seeing that so many people are here coming to memorialize our heroes,” the rapper said.

“We didn’t even know this many people would come out. We’re definitely not going to leave anyone behind. Thank you to those who came out. If anyone has been picked up, we’re going to ensure that they’re released on time.”

Earlier, the Lagos police arrested two persons at the tollgate. It also fired tear gas at the protest scene.
