Andre ‘Dr. Dre’ Young, US media personality, has replied to his wife’s divorce petition, revealing they have a prenuptial agreement that could prevent her from getting half of his fortune.
Nicole Young had filed for divorce from him after citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for separation. She had also demanded spousal support.
According to TMZ, Dre filed his response in court on Wednesday, agreeing to spousal support but noting that the division of assets should be determined by the prenuptial agreement they had.
While reports had earlier claimed the duo didn’t have a prenup agreement as Young didn’t mention it in her filing, it is understood that issues relating to child support or custody are nonexistent.
With three adult kids from their union, the couple’s split would be coming after 25 years of their marriage, having tied the knot in 1996 following Nicole’s split from Sedale Threatt, an NBA player.
Dre, who is said to be worth an estimated $800 million, had risen to stardom as the founder of Death Row Records in the 1990s before launching his lucrative Beats Electronics brand in 2006.
