The first posthumous single of Sound Sultan, the late Nigerian singer and rapper, has been released.

The song titled ‘Friends’ was released on streaming platforms on Friday.

The song, produced by ID Cabasa, is the first single off his forthcoming posthumous album titled ‘Reality Chq’.

The less than four-minute track sees the rapper talking about how happy he feels when he realizes he has friends that can stay with him during trials and tribulations.

The musician also croons about how surprising it is that some “trusted friends turn out to be frenemies”.

“I wanna let you know it blows my mind/ Everytime I look around o and I see you you you/ True to God, I mean am o/ Everytime I look around and I see you you you/ I get friends wey dey hold me down/ I get friends when raba dey/ I get friends when yawa dey,” the lyrics read.

An album listening party for the late Sound Sultan’s project is scheduled for July 10.

The listening party will hold in Brooklyn, New York.

The first remembrance for the rapper is also scheduled for July 11.

“On the 11th of July 2021, We lost one of the most conscious artist in Nigerian history,” the post read.

“The 1st year remembrance of Sound Sultan would be light up with series of activities around the world .”

After a four-year battle with blood cancer, Sound Sultan died on July 11, 2021, at 44.
