Laycon, the Nigerian rapper, has put out two new singles titled ‘Shine’ and ‘LOL’.
The music star announced the music releases via his Instagram page on Wednesday.
The tracks mark Laycon’s first releases of the year.
‘LOL’ — which stands for Laycon of Lagos — is a feel-good song in which the rapper eulogises himself as well as other music stars he admires such as Olamide, Ice Prince, and Wizkid.
The clever wordplay and playful tone of the lyrics also add to the overall appeal of the song.
In ‘Shine’, Laycon croons about following his dreams and not being deterred by threats or opposition.
“Follow my heart as I follow my dreams, e be like say dem no like my thing, when I dey for road dem do pim, I dey for aeroplane to Yankee, na me and Gomey and my brother, I dey for heaven till infinity their father,” the lyrics read.
“Chuku chuku want to choke me with a dagger, me I no go bother, waka, me I say you cannot stop my shine.”
‘Shine’ and ‘LOL’ are produced by Tytanium.
Born Olamilekan Agbelese, the music star rose to prominence after he won the fifth edition of the BBNaija reality show.
He has continued to enjoy fame in the country’s entertainment industry with beautiful projects as well as endorsement deals.
Laycon recently bagged a Master of Arts (MA) and a second degree from the University of Portsmouth, England.
