Joeboy, the Nigerian singer, has come through with a new single titled ‘Only God Can Save Me’.
The music star released the project on streaming platforms on Friday.
In the track, Joeboy conveys a sense of skepticism towards those in his circle. He also acknowledges God as the ultimate source of his salvation.
“My eye dey red/Many things for my head/Many things on my plate/I Dey scratch bear bear/Trouble comes any day/I no Dey panic o/I no Dey fear/Why dem wan cash my Cheque?/When dem no follow me sweat/That shit so weird/I no Dey like to pretend/What you see is what you get/Oh yeah yeah,” he sings.
“If I Dey down na who go lift me up?/If battery low na who go charge me up?/Is you my friend only in good times?/Shey you go dey when I am not fine/If you no go dey when it is wartime/No go show your face when my sunshine.”
Born Joseph Akinwale, Joeboy gained popularity under emPawa Africa, a record label owned by Mr Eazi.
In 2019, he won the ‘Best Artiste in African Pop’ prize at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
The singer also bagged the ‘Best Pop’ category at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival in 2020.
