Janelle Monae, the US singer, has come through with a new single titled ‘Float,’ featuring Seun Kuti and Egypt 80.

The US actress in an Instagram post expressed her excitement about the collaboration.

Janelle also urged listeners to pay attention to the lyrics of the song because “they came straight from my heart.”

“FLOAT is OUT ON ALL PLATFORMS,” she wrote. “Ahhhh it feels good to be releasing music!!

“Sending love and waves to everyone who takes the time to listen! I pray you hold these words close to your heart cause they came straight from mine.

“Thank you to the incomparable Seun Kuti @bigbirdkuti and @egypt80band for blessing this song. Thank you to my fam The Floaters (@natewonderful @sensei_bueno @nanakwabena) for blessing this song n’ riding this wave right with me.”

The song was released through Monáe’s Wondaland Records label. It was produced by Sensei Bueno, Nate “Rocket” Wonder, and Nana Kwabena.

“I can’t hear myself/Damn(When I see you, I) Yeah/No, I’m—, no, I’m not—, no, I’m not the same/No, I’m not the same, no, I’m not the same, no, I’m not the—, uh/No, I’m not the same, uh/I think I done changed, yeah Woo, woo woo/,” the lyrics read.

The songstress is making her return to the music scene after her hiatus in 2021 following her protest song ‘Say Her Name (Hell You Talmbout).’

Monaé hasn’t released an album in nearly five years.
