Fireboy, the Nigerian afro-pop singer, has come through with a new single ‘Playboy’ ahead of his highly anticipated album with the same name.

The 26-year-old singer took to his social media pages in the early hours of Thursday to announce the official release of the single.

“My first single this year, ‘playboy’, out now, let’s go! produced by Bizzouch,” he wrote.

‘Playboy’ is Fireboy’s first single of the year, and it comes after he collaborated with Madonna on the remix for ‘Frozen’, her 1998 hit song.

The less than four-minute track is powered by the much-touted precocious lyricism of the singer as he beckons on a lady that “wanna play with a big playboy like me.”

Fireboy’s distinct vocal prowess was given enough room to mesmerise by the bouncy instrumental of Bizzouch.

‘Playboy’ straddles the sultriness of ‘Tatoo’ and the pop-like feel of ‘Peru’ to produce a hybrid sound that the singer has promised will be the beginning of a new era.

“Girl don’t flex with the boy, your body is a mad ting/ she wanna roll with the mandem/ when i drop yunno it’s an anthem/ Ooof! girlie wanna play with a big playboy like me/ Ooof! girlie wanna play with a big playboy like me,” he sings at the into of the song.
