Cobhams Asuquo, the Nigerian songwriter, has teamed up with The Kabal, a group consisting of 2Baba and Larry Gaga, for his new song titled ‘Cover Me’.
The award-winning producer and composer took to his social media pages to announce the release of the song on Friday — which happens to be his birthday.
Cobhams also called on well-wishers to listen to the newly-released song rather than send him gifts.
“It’s my birthday today, and I’m thankful. Please don’t send me gifts. If you love me, go stream my new song “Cover Me” ft. @official2baba and @LarryGaagazeen, and thank me later. This year I’m doing the giving,” he wrote on Twitter.
The song sees the sonorous singer deviate from his gentle, soulful style to a dancehall genre of music.
In the less than five-minute track, Cobhams sings about the need for adequate protection from God.
“I’m an ordinary paper chaser| Living my life I no get time for haters| Who go try me let them see your face over me,” he sings.
Born on January 6, 1981, Asuquo has continued to enjoy fame with his creativity as a songwriter/music producer/singer — despite his blindness.
His mastery as a music producer has seen him work with big names in the Nigerian music industry like Asa, Banky W, and Omawumi.
He has also performed with bands at international music events such as the Harare International Festival of Arts, and the French Cultural Center Concert.
