Banky W, the singer-politician, has claimed his posters are being vandalised by the opposition party.

The musician took to Instagram on Friday to share a video of his posters being destroyed.

In the footage, a man is seen stripping roadside posters with a spray.

Banky alleged that it was done by the opposition party.

“Evidence of what our opponents are doing to oppress our efforts.. but no matter how they try to tear us down, we get back up and keep going,” he wrote.

Banky W, while speaking in the footage, argued that his rivals can only try to bring him down but they will be “unsuccessful”.

“They can only try to bully and suppress us but it will not work. It is unfair, but it will be unsuccessful. Stand with us. Fight with us. Enough is enough,” he said.

“We have an election to win. Victory now loading.”

Jubril Gawat, the senior special assistant (SSA) to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos governor, on new media, took to Twitter to counter Banky’s claim.

Sanwo-Olu’s spokesperson argued that the actor wasn’t the only politician affected.

Buttressing his point, Gawat shared a video in which “all the posters irrespective of the political parties were removed”.

He, however, did not give reasons for the removal.

Banky W is vying to represent the Eti-Osa federal constituency in the house of representatives on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He first went into politics when he contested in the 2019 election to represent Eti-Osa in Lagos in the lower chamber of the national assembly under the umbrella of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP).

At the time, he lost to Babajide Obanikoro, the candidate for the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Refusing to back down, Banky W left MDP for the PDP.

There, he contested and won the Eti-Osa federal constituency primary ticket of the party ahead of the 2023 general election.
