Rakim Mayers, the US rapper better known as A$ap Rocky, appears to have aimed a dig at Chris Brown in his new single for his infamous beating up of Rihanna in 2009.

Rocky, who was recently arrested at Los Angeles airport, has been in a relationship with Rihanna – who is pregnant with his child – since 2019.

In the single released on Thursday and titled ‘Dats My B*tch (DMB)’, the 33-year-old raps: ‘I don’t beat my b***h, I need my b***h.’

The song seems to be referring to the 2009 incident where Chris physically attacked his then-girlfriend Rihanna in their car after leaving a party the night before the Grammy Awards.

After pleading guilty, he was sentenced to community service and mandatory anger management classes. He was also handed five years probation and a restraining order against Rihanna.

In a 2017 documentary, Chris recalled feeling like a “monster” when he hit Rihanna.

“I remember she was trying to kick me. It was just her just being upset. But then I really hit her,” he had said.

“With a closed fist, like I punched her and it busted her lip. And when I saw it I was in shock. Why the hell did I hit her?”

In the music video, there’s also imagery of A$AP and Rihanna tying the knot.
