‘Simisola’, a sophomore album by Nigerian singer-sound engineer Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye, has slid into the Billboard music charts.
The album, released twelve days ago, debuted at number five on the World Album charts.
Simi’s album was preceded on the chart by ‘Love and Fall’ by Bobby, ‘Confidencias’ by Ricardo Delgado, ‘Carnavales Music’ by Allison and ‘Voices of Angels’ by Celtic Woman & The Orchestra of Ireland.
The 29-year-old singer took to Instagram on Wednesday morning to celebrate the feat.
“We charted No. 5 on Billboard World Music charts,” she wrote.
“#Simisola I think I’m gonna cry…but before then, I gotta say Thank You #SimiArmy! This is our album. But most of all, Thank you Jesus.
“PS: We’re No. 1 on iTunes and Apple Music. Maaaan God is good. It’s beautiful to watch,” she wrote.

Her rumored opposite half, Adekunle Gold, also had his eponymous album crack the same World Albums chart.
His ‘Gold’ album entered the chart less than two weeks after its release.
2baba Idibia’s ‘Ascension’, Reminisce’s ‘Baba Hafusa’ and ‘New Era’ by Kiss Daniel are some of the Nigerian albums that have made the Billboard World Album charts.
Earlier this year, Reminisce became the first Nigerian artiste to have consecutive albums on the chart, with his fourth effort El Hadj debuting at number 13.
Simisola, which contains 15 songs, includes three bonus tracks and has Gold as the sole guest artiste.
The eponymous album is her first on the X3M record label since joining in 2014.
