Asake, the Nigerian singer, has come through with ‘Active’, his new single featuring Travis Scott.
‘Active’ was released on all streaming platforms in the early hours of Wednesday.
The track, which features the US rapper Scott, is produced by Sarz and Mike Dean.
In ‘Active’, Asake sampled the 2016 song ‘Raise Da Roof’ by Jazzman and Adewale Ayuba, the Fuji musician.
The accompanying music video is directed by Edgar Esteves, Joshua Valle, and Nikita Vilchinski.
The video is a mashup of highlights from Asake’s stage performances and footage of him having fun alongside Scott.
“Oh mhen am active (4x)/ Gbemi dele o/ Gbemi debe o/ two short o ma gbemi debe o/ E too sure iwo gan ma debe o / Straight forward I no get kay leg o yeye o kosepe/ 247 me I dey here/ U no strong make u dey for day care o/ Mon gbona orimi de there o,” he sings.

Born Ahmed Ololade, Asake rose to prominence in 2020 with his hit song ‘Lady’. The singer joined YBNL, the record label owned by Olamide, in February 2022.
He has released two studio albums, ‘Mr Money With The Vibes’ (2022) and ‘Work of Art’ (2023). He has also earned a plethora of awards and nominations for his craft.
Asake was nominated in the Best African Music Performance’ category at the 2024 Grammys for ‘Amapiano’, his hit song with Olamide, the rapper.
