D’banj, the Nigerian singer, has praised Don Jazzy, the Mavin Records head honcho, for his contribution to his decades-long career.

D’banj and Don Jazzy’s friendship in the music industry dates back to 2004 after which they co-founded Mo’ Hits Records.

The label housed famous artistes like Wande Coal, Dr SID, D’Prince, and K-Switch.

Don Jazzy produced some of D’banj’s hit tracks including ‘Why Me’, ‘Suddenly’, ‘Olorun Maje’, ‘Igwe’ among others.

But in March 2012, Don Jazzy announced that D’banj had left the group.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, D’banj shared a video of himself visiting Don Jazzy while presenting the music producer with a gift box.

The singer also gifted the Mavin Records boss an harmonica — a trademark instrument that characterised his music style under Mo’ Hits.

During the visit, D’banj recalled how the two of them returned from the United Kingdom in 2004 and decided to do music together.

He praised Don Jazzy for “believing and covering me” during their time together.

“I started this 20 years journey with you. 20 years ago we came back from London together. I remember that in 2004 when we started you were the first person that believed in me. The first person that covered me. And you were there throughout. I just want to say the story is not complete without you,” he said.

“My 20 year journey cannot be complete without It’s @donjazzy again! Giving him the invite to my anniversary dinner was a moment filled with nostalgia. As we both celebrate 20 years in the industry, I’m reminded of the countless memories and milestones we’ve shared together. Here’s to two decades of brotherhood, entertainment, and unwavering support. Love you always, Brother! OooSHee,” he wrote.

In April, D’banj tendered an apology to the former members of Mo’ Hits Records.

He also paid tribute to his former colleagues in his latest song titled ‘Since ’04’.
