CELEBRITIES BACK TB JOSHUA AMID CONTROVERSIAL DOCUMENTARY
Some celebrities took to their social media pages to air their opinions over the recent publication by the BBC on TB Joshua, the late founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).
Last Monday, the BBC Africa Eye reported eyewitness accounts of rape, torture, and forced abortions allegedly committed by the late cleric.
In the documentary, some former members of the church claimed TB Joshua raped, tortured, and forced them to carry out abortions inside the church located in the Ikotun area of Lagos state.
The report stirred up arguments across social media with users expressing mixed opinions.
Eedris Abdulkareem argued that the British public service broadcaster “lacked the justification to condemn any African man”.
On his part, Victor AD, the singer, narrated how “God used Joshua to restore my mum’s hand that was supposed to be amputated”.
Rita Edochie, the Nollywood actress, also opined that the documentary is an “insult to the black people”.
On Saturday, Ronke Oshodi Oke, the actress, also said TB Joshua healed her daughter and sister of asthma, adding that “he is a nice man of God.
TONTO DIKEH, VERYDARKMAN AND TUNDE EDNUT
Tonto Dikeh was in the news last week after she ensured the arrest of Martins Otse, the social media critic better known as VeryDarkMan, over alleged cyberbullying and cyberstalking.
Dikeh said she wanted to “put an end to all his shenanigans” while sharing VeryDarkMan’s picture in police custody.
VeryDarkMan later announced his release from police custody after which he claimed Dikeh threatened to take his life.
He alleged that one of his aunties phoned to tell him to come to hide in her house because the actress was going to kill him.
Amid the drama, Dikeh also slammed Tunde Ednut, the popular blogger, for supporting VeryDarkMan.
The actress-turned-politician accused Ednut of “promoting societal ills, blatant falsehood and unfounded criminal accusations”.
NGOZI EZEONU DEBUNKS DEATH RUMOUR
Ngozi Ezeonu the ace Nollywood actress, debunked rumours that she passed away.
The actress previously shared a photo of a burning candle with the caption: “A rare gem is gone”.
But some media reports claimed that the 58-year-old actress had died and that her son confirmed her demise.
Ezeonu, however, shared a video wherein she asked the public to disregard such claims.
The film star said she is “alive and healthy”, adding that the previous post was a tribute to a friend whom she recently lost.
Ezeonu also cautioned people “peddling death rumours without solid proof and confirmation”.
“The calls I have been receiving have been very worrisome. I don’t know why anybody should take my post,” she wrote.
“I lost a very close friend of mine, I posted a candle, a half-burnt candle and they now put my picture on that candle and everybody is saying that I died.
“It is wrong. I am alive and healthy, please.
“In journalism, what you do when in doubt is you leave out. If you cannot get across to the person to at least confirm the story, you don’t post.
“Don’t do that, please. Don’t try it again. This is a new year, why would anybody want to hurt each other just because they want people to follow them.”
DAVIDO VS TIWA SAVAGE
Davido and Tiwa Savage were in the news last week after the songstress alleged threat of assault and grievous bodily harm against the ‘Assurance’ hitmaker.
On Tuesday, Savage filed a petition detailing alleged harassment after an Instagram story post featuring Sophia Momodu, Davido’s ex-partner, on December 23, 2023.
In the petition, Savage asked the police to hold Davido accountable if anything happened to her or her family.
Before her petition, TeeBillz, the ex-husband of Savage, vowed to teach Davido “a lesson” for allegedly disrespecting his family.
Reacting to the petition, the Lagos police command revealed that it has commenced an investigation into the allegations leveled against Davido by Savage.
Although Davido has been very active on social media, the singer has remained reticent on the allegations.
