Craig Mack, a founding member of Bad Boy Records, has died.

The rapper famous for ‘Flava in Ya Ear’ was 46.

Alvin Toney, his former producer, said Mack died of heart failure at his home in Walterboro, South Carolina home.

Mack had the first major hit song on the hip hop label founded by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

‘Flava in Ya Ear’, released in 1994, sold over a million copies.

“Craig Mack, you were the first artist to release music on Bad Boy and gave us our first hit,” Diddy said in a statement posted on Twitter.

“You always followed your heart and you had an energy that was out of this world. You believed in me and you believed in Bad Boy. I will never forget what you did for hip-hop.

“You inspired me, and I will continue to try to keep inspiring others. We will always love you.”

Mack would later quit hip hop to become a minister in South Carolina.
