A Kenyan chef, simply identified as Maliha Mohammed, says she has surpassed the world record set by Nigeria’s Hilda Baci for the longest cooking marathon.
Announcing her achievement via Instagram on Tuesday, Maliha wrote, “@seagasltd Yes, we did it! I am now the new world record holder for the longest home kitchen cooking marathon in town. Thank you for the incredible support”.
The Kenyan chef said she began her cook-a-thon on August 11, with the aim of beating the 93 hours and 11 minutes set by the Nigerian chef who currently holds the Guinness World Record (GWR).
Maliha said she exceeded Baci’s time and has set a new record of 95 hours and 15 minutes for the longest individual cooking marathon.

The British reference book is, however, yet to confirm Maliha’s new cooking record.
The chef had previously attempted to break the GWR in 2018 and 2019, but her attempts were not certified.
In May, the chef declared her intention to try again. She said she applied in 2022, and her application was approved by the GWR.
“In 2019, I broke the GWR for cooking 75 hours, In 2018 I did the same by cooking 72 hours,” she wrote.
“I sent my application last year to GWR, it takes time for them to accept your application, but they did accept my application via email.
“I will not be breaking one record but two. The first record will be broken on August 11 and the second will be on September 11 of the longest cooking by an individual marathon and also home cooking marathon.
“I know the love, the support I had gotten in 2019 was immense, and now I need your support one more time.”
