Michelle Alozie, the Super Falcons defender, has left tongues wagging on social media over her recent controversial post.
On Tuesday, the Houston Dash utility player shared a picture of herself with a yet-to-be-identified white woman via her Instagram story.
The picture of the duo was accompanied by the caption: “Happy us over them, to my husband”.
The screenshots of the post began to go viral on social media, with several Nigerians sharing their wild opinions.
“Alozie post her husband who is also same gender with her, many of us are heartbroken but we just forming hard guy,” a user lamented.

Another user (@Adolphis), however, clarified that “they are just friends o, today is the other babes birthday, relax”.

The Falcons star immediately quoted Adolphis’ tweet while expressing gratitude to the user for picking up the “humour”.
“Thank you. I’m glad you understand my humor,” she wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, Alozie called for calm from her teeming and curious fans on X while stating that “I like guys”.

Although the Nigerian international appeared to downplay the severity of the IG post, she, however, did not categorically define her relationship with the white lady.
The 24-year-old footballer also urged social media users to channel their commentaries on the pressing issues in the world, rather than her sexuality.

Alozie was a member of the Falcons team that featured in the 2023 Women’s World Cup hosted by New Zealand and Australia.
She played all the games in the competition before Nigeria was exited in the second round by England.
Alozie is also a part-time cancer research technician in the US, where she was born to parents of Imo descent.
