Tomi Adeyemi, a 24-year-old Nigerian writer, has landed on the New York Times bestseller list for her book ‘Children of Blood and Bone’.

The first time author’s novel is featured on the children’s bestseller list.

‘Children of Blood and Bone’ is a mythical fantasy novel which infuses African culture/characters and magic.

Adeyemi shared the news of her feat on Twitter, saying she made the bestsellers list exactly a year after she got wind of her publishing deal.

“A year ago today I got to shout that I was going to be a published author,” she said.

“Today you guys made #ChildrenofBloodandBone number 1 again. To everybody who’s supported this story in any way, I can’t say thank you enough.”

In 2017, Adeyemi sealed a seven-figure deal with Fox Studios to adapt ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ for the screen.

‘Children of Blood and Bone’ is expected to spawn a movie trilogy.

Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are said to be producing the trilogy with Karen Rosenfelt.

Adeyemi, an English literature graduate of Harvard University, is also a creative writing coach based in San Diego US.

After graduating from Harvard, she secured a fellowship which enabled her to study West African mythology and culture in Salvador, Brazil.
