Bright Chimezie, the veteran Nigerian singer, has endorsed Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
The musician announced his support for the former governor of Anambra state in an Instagram post on Thursday.
Chimezie called on Nigerians to vote wisely, adding that the restoration of Nigeria should remain a top priority for everyone.
“Dear family and fans, I wish to reiterate that as an entertainer and having sat on the Ziggima throne for over 40 years, I commit to continue to “ziggimatically” put hearty smiles on all faces irrespective of individual inclinations,” he wrote.
“However, marching Obidiently to the call for restoring Nigeria remains the number one prerogative of the nation at this point. Vote Wisely!”
Obi is one of the leading candidates in the 2023 presidential race alongside Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chimezie joins the list of celebrities who have declared support for the ex-governor so far.
Tony Umez, the actor, also recently endorsed the LP presidential candidate.
“Some think it’s their birthright to rule. I don’t know where that [came from]. If I would vote tomorrow, I’d vote for Peter Obi. I’m not saying he’s a good man. But he’s saying the right things and has done the right things,” he had said.
