Idris Okuneye, the self-acclaimed Nigerian transgender better known as Bobrisky, has revealed why he is yet to be married.
In a recent Instagram post, the 30-year-old cross-dresser said although he is in a relationship, his lover is a married man.
The controversial internet personality also said he is waiting for his lover to divorce his wife so they can get married.
“Many of you asking when are you getting married bob? The man I love is married but I’m waiting for him to divorce his wife so we can get married,” he wrote.
“I don’t know how long it will take but very soon.”
Bobrisky, who is often called the ‘male Barbie doll’, has made the headlines on numerous occasions after claiming to be Nigeria’s first transgender. He once admitted to having severed his genitals.
In 2019, the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) described him as a “national disaster” while human rights groups issued a statement to protest allegations of threat and harassment against him.
This was just as Bobrisky took a critical shot at detractors who refused to acknowledge his feminine status and kept calling him “bro”.
The Snapchat celebrity had in 2020 revealed that he opted for crossdressing in order to make ends meet after 25 years of being a man.
In September 2021, Bobrisky had also talked about some of the perks he enjoys being a “woman”.
“I want to be a woman because being a woman has paved a lot of ways for me. Women don’t actually know how powerful they are. They don’t know how to use their resources as a woman,” he had said.
Bobrisky is a bachelor’s degree holder in Accounting from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
