BOBRISKY DETAINED OVER NAIRA ABUSE
Idris Okuneye, the self-proclaimed transgender, was in the public eye last week after she was apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Last Wednesday, Bobrisky was arrested and detained for abusing the naira and alleged N180 million money laundering.
She was arraigned on Friday before Abimbola Awogboro of the federal high court, Ikoyi, over a six-count charge.
While counts five and six bordering on money laundering were struck out, Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the other four charges involving naira abuse.
Awogboro adjourned the case till April 9, with the crossdresser expected to remain in the EFCC custody.
COURT INVITES FIVE PEOPLE OVER CLAIMS NATHANIEL BASSEY FATHERED MERCY CHINWO’S CHILD
The magistrate court in Abuja has summoned five persons over alleged criminal defamation and cyberstalking.
The social media users had alleged that Nathaniel Bassey fathered the child of Mercy Chinwo, the gospel singer.
The suspects identified as Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot, Dj Spoiltkid, and Agozi Kayode, were invited by the Abuja court based on the petitions filed by Bassey and Blessing Uzochikwa, Chinwo’s husband.
The offenders are expected to appear before the court on April 23.
However, on Saturday, one of the five suspects apologised for his comments, claiming he had been depressed since he was served the court papers.
DAVIDO THREATENS LAWSUIT OVER ‘FALSE’ REPORT OF ARREST IN KENYA
Davido, the Afrobeats star, refuted claims of being arrested in Kenya.
There were rumours that the award-winning singer was arrested by the anti-narcotics police unit for alleged drug possession — shortly after his performance at the Raha Fest in Nairobi, Kenya.
Davido, however, described the reports as “false”, saying he has never been arrested.
He added that his lawyer is taking legal action against the media outlets that “spread the misinformation”.
TIMINI DEACTIVATES X ACCOUNT OVER 2011 CONTROVERSIAL POST
Last week, Timini Egbuson, the Nollywood actor, deactivated his X account after his controversial tweet resurfaced on the platform.
An X user had called out the movie star over a tweet in 2011, wherein he claimed female students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) can give in for sex “when you mention boat cruise”.
“UNILAG babes will off pants for you immediately you mention boat cruise. It’s like magic,” the tweet reads.
The tweet triggered a chorus of condemnation against the actor, prompting him to take down his X account.
AY MAKUN BREAKS SILENCE AS DISPUTE THREATENS MARRIAGE TO MABEL
AY Makun, on Sunday, revealed that his marriage to Mabel Makun, his partner of 20 years, is “slipping off” his hands.
Rumours had circulated that the estranged couple separated amid a brewing marital dispute.
In January, they unfollowed each other on Instagram fueling the controversies.
The development had followed a post by Mabel, alleging a threat to her life.
Reacting on Sunday, AY Makun said he has grown beyond entertaining the public with the granular details of his marital crisis.
He neither disclosed the cause of his dispute with Mabel nor stated that they had officially separated.
However, the comedian admitted that neither of them is completely without fault.
PELUMI NUBI ARRIVES LAGOS FROM LONDON AFTER TWO MONTHS
Pelumi Nubi, the Nigerian travel content creator who drove from London arrived in Lagos on Sunday, after spending two months on the road.
Nubi arrived at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and was received by Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Lagos commissioner of tourism, arts, and culture.
In November 2023, Nubi announced her intention to embark on a solo trip from London to Lagos.
She commenced the trip on January 30, travelling across 17 countries including France, Spain, Morocco, and through the West Sahara Desert.
She drove through some West African countries before arriving in Lagos.
