Adejumoke Aderounmu, the Nigerian actress famous for her role in the TV series ‘Jenifa’s Diary‘, has passed away.

Adeola Aderounmu, the actress’ brother, announced her demise via his Instagram story on Sunday.

He also shared a flyer of burial arrangements and captioned the post, “you are in a better place now my sister 💔.”

While the cause of her death remains undisclosed, Adeola revealed she died on April 6.

Born in 1984 in Abeokuta, Ogun state, Aderounmu rose to fame in 2016 for her role as Esther (small but mighty) in Funke Akindele’s popular comedy series ‘Jenifa’s Diary’.

Throughout her career, she amassed over 10 acting credits in both English and Yoruba films.

Aderounmu’s career extended beyond acting. She previously worked as a presenter for Goldmyne Entertainment’s Box Office TV show and at Concert Radio.

In 2012, she produced her own entertainment show, ‘The Lounge with Jumoke’, featuring celebrity interviews and fashion segments.

Her talent was recognised with several awards and nominations, including a ‘Best Actress’ nomination at the African International Film Festival in Dallas, Texas.

She won the ‘New Face of Nollywood’ category at the Scream Awards in 2017.

Adejumoke, in a 2019 interview, shared a harrowing experience of a near-death attack in her home.

“I had suffered an attack in my former house whilst I was indoors and it almost ended my life. I am grateful for giving me back my life and full restoration,” she said.
