Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, has shared a profanity-laced email he got from an irate customer in response to the tech company’s open support of the Black Lives Matter protests in the US.

Following the death of George Floyd, the black American who was killed after a white cop knelt on his neck, celebrities and other citizens had taken to the streets to protest “police brutality” on blacks.

Bezos and Amazon executives had clearly expressed their support for the Black Lives Matter movement, which is aimed to end racism against people of colour across climes.

The tech company had also put up a banner on its website that reads: “Black Lives Matter” — days after Floyd’s death — and it appeared not to have gone down too well with a number of Amazon’s customers.

On Monday, the 56-year-old media proprietor shared an email he received from an angry client who warned that his likes would be there to scorn when the profits of Amazon decline due to his stance on the protest.

“I was placing an order with Amazon when I discovered your statement of support for Black Lives Matter. Pledging support for a bunch of worthless n***a will ruin your company,” the email read.

“You’re a perfect a** h**e. You are not an id**t or you wouldn’t have the financial success that you have had.

“White America is sick of this n***a bulls**t. I cancelled my order and I know for a fact I won’t be the only one. Maintain your stance and we will watch your profits decline and laugh about it.”

There have been a number of sickening but not surprising responses in my inbox since my last post. This sort of hate shouldn’t be allowed to hide in the shadows. It’s important to make it visible. This is just one example of the problem. And, Dave, you’re the kind of customer I’m happy to lose.

But in response, Bezos said the man, who was simply identified as Dave, is the type his tech company would be happy to lose.

“There have been a number of sickening but not surprising responses in my inbox since my last post. This sort of hate shouldn’t be allowed to hide in the shadows,” the Amazon boss wrote.

Bezos, the world’s richest man with a net worth of nearly $150 billion, previous schooled another customer who had sent similar message to him via email saying: “It is quite disturbing to get on the AMAZON website and see ‘BLACK LIVES MATTER.’”

“‘Black lives matter’ doesn’t mean other lives don’t matter. Black lives matter speaks to racism and the disproportionate risk that Black people face in our law enforcement and justice system,” Bezos said in part of his reply.
