BBNaija: Topher speaks on age controversy, relationship with Anita

Christopher ‘Topher‘ Bassey, the former BBNaija season nine, has addressed the controversy surrounding his age during the show.

The 24-year-old reality star got evicted last Sunday with Ocee and Kassia.

His age became a topic of discussion on social media after he misled Anita, his love interest in the house, about it. He had claimed to be 26.

Tired of being weighed down by the age issue, Topher came clean and revealed he is three years younger to a distraught Anita, 27.

In a Wednesday interview, Topher acknowledged that his actions sparked skepticism. He also explained that his intention was not to deceive but to avoid potential age-related biases.

“I would say personally I caused that for myself because my age is something I would normally even pride myself on. I am this young, and I am shaking ground already,” he said.

“Making it into the house and removing that, that made people question ‘why is he telling lies about his age?’. That was how it came across.”

Regarding his relationship with Anita, Topher expressed interest in exploring their connection outside the house.

“What we have? We have a very special bond and when she is out of the house, we are going to just explore it more,” he said.
