A GoFundMe campaign launched for Ngozi ‘Erica’ Nlewedim, a recently disqualified housemate of the ongoing Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality TV show, has raked in $16,238 (about N6.3 million) after 24 hours.
The actress cum model’s stay at the ‘Lockdown’ house came to an end on Sunday after she received her third and final strike.
Her disqualification had come after she was found guilty of goading, threatening a housemate, and interfering with the production process due to her verbal exchange with Laycon.
But shortly after her disqualification, Erica’s fans — known as ‘Elites’ — had launched a $100,000 (N38 million) GoFundMe campaign towards helping her achieve “her hopes and aspirations.”
“For Erica Nlewedim, the star of BBNaija season 5, Lockdown edition whose journey on the show came to an emotional end – To realize some of her hopes and aspirations,” the post on the platform read.
As of Monday morning, over 163 donors had contributed $14,376.
After 24 hours, the GoFundMe, which was created less than one hour after she was asked to leave the house, had generated $16,238 while the donors increased from 163 to over 200.
Idris Okuneye, a cross-dresser better known as Bobrisky, had also pledged N1 million for the ex-housemate.
“Can all this assistant Jesus Christ go and rest. My 1million is to show her love. I won’t support u guys to bully her. How would she be corrected if you all stand against her. Please, let’s be fair please,” she had announced on her Instagram page.
