Olubankole Wellington, the Nigerian singer-politician better known as Banky W, says he is pursuing a master’s degree in policy.
In an Instagram post, Banky W said he is schooling at Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
He said he “gave up” being a chief executive at a company to become a student again.
“Sometimes, you have to let go of what’s impressive to gain what’s important,” Banky W added.
Adesua Etomi, his wife, commented on the post, revealing that he has been getting straight A’s so far.
“I just want everyone to know that my husband is a true efiko and has gotten A’s so far. I’m so proud,” she wrote.
In May, Banky W survived a fourth cancer surgery and publicly announced his recovery.
The multifaceted entertainer had co-founded the record label Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) in 2002 with his friend Tunde Demuren.
As a musician, he is known for hit singles such as ‘Ebute Metta’, ‘Capable’, and ‘Yes/No’.
His work has earned him numerous awards over the years.
In recent times, Banky W has ventured into politics.
In 2023, he contested the Eti-Osa federal constituency seat under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The singer-turned-politician, however, lost to Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party (LP).
