Yekini Oyedele, an ace Nigerian actor better known as Baba Legba, has passed away.
Adejumo Boisala, son of Baba Sala, late veteran comedian, broke the news in a post via his social media page on Monday.
Boisala said that Baba Legba breathed his last in the early hours of the day.
He, however, did not reveal the cause of his death.
Boisala described the deceased as a renowned actor whose career spanned several roles in movies.
“Alhaji Yekini Oyedele popularly known as Babalegba died in the early hours of today (midnight precisely),” he wrote on Facebook.
“He joined Alawada Theatre Group in 1974 and was playing comic roles along with Baba Sala, sometimes he played babalawo (herbalist), police officer but most time one comic role to another.
“He is a friend of the family and supporter of my daddy till his death. He used to be called Sunday Ikubolaje then before he went to Mecca and he turned muslim. Personally, he contributed a lot to my success too. May your soul rest in perfect peace, baba.”
His death further stretches the list of movie stars who have breathed their last since the dawn of the year.
