Asake, the Nigerian singer, has provoked outrage on social media over his recently released visuals for ‘Only Me’, his hit single.

The singer announced the music video’s release on Thursday — (watch the video here).

Directed by TG Omori, the visuals saw Asake clad in priestly regalia while giving out communion in a place decorated like a church.

His video vixens were also dressed up like altar servers — the people who assist the priests in the church.

The video has attracted a chorus of condemnation on social media, especially X, where users accused Asake, a Muslim, of “continually disrespecting the Christian faith”.

Some users also referred to a scene in his ‘Bandana‘ video, where black goats trooped into a church to prove their arguments.

“Asake keeps disrespecting the Christian faith in his music videos. Dramatizing giving the Eucharist, robed up in priestly regalia for a music video that has no connection with Christianity is disrespectful,” Solomon Buchi, the life coach, wrote.

“In his Bandana video, he depicts black goats troping into the church, with cloven tongues of fire above weird men. Asake, I think, is a Muslim. Why doesn’t he go above and beyond to embarrass his Muslim faith in this same way?

“Why do Christians even listen to these musicians who bluntly disrespect Christianity?”

Another user wrote: “Christianity has lost it’s value untill even Muslims are condemning what Asake did in this video”.

Here is what some other users had to say:
