Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Asake, Davido have won plaques at the 8th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

The 8th AFRIMA started on January 12 and ended on the 15th in Dakar, Senegal.

The award ceremony united music bigwigs and entertainers alike to celebrate top talents in Africa.

Burna Boy took home the award for ‘Best Album’ and ‘Best African Act’ while Davido won the ‘Best Inspirational Song’ category for his single ‘Stand Strong’.

The ‘OBO’ crooner also won ‘Best African Pop for ‘High’ for his collaboration with Adekunle Gold while Wizkid took home the ‘Best West African Act’ award.

Asake, who got loads of positive reviews in 2022, also secured the ‘Artist of the Year’ award.

The award ceremony started on January 12 with a country tour, school visit, gift presentation, and a welcome soiree.

The event continued on the 13th with the Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS) at the Grand Theatre, in Dakar.

AMBS featured workshops and panel discussions on issues and opportunities within the African music industry.

The award continued with high momentum at the AFRIMA Music Village at the Grand Theatre, which was a free-to-enter concert featuring live performances from the biggest music stars across the continent.

The 14th began with rehearsals, media engagements, and a visit to the president of Senegal while the 8th AFRIMA wrapped up on January 15 at the 15-000 capacity Dakar Arena, in Dakar.

The live award ceremony was broadcast by 104 TV stations to over 84 countries around the world.
