Amir Khan, former boxing world champion, has confirmed that he and his wife Faryal Mahkdoom are getting a divorce after alleging that she cheated on him with world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua.

Khan on Friday took his Twitter account, which was initially thought to be hacked, to start a meltdown that would elicit responses from all parties involved.

His initial post read: “So me and the wife Faryal have agreed to split. I’m currently in Dubai. Wish her all the best.”

Khan’s wife and mother of his three-year-old daughter, Faryal, who saw the tweets shortly after they hit the web, took to Snapchat to insist that both their accounts had been compromised.

She wrote: “Holy s***! My accounts have been hacked! Wtf is going on. Amirs account and my twitter account have been compromised. I sincerely apologise.”

But Khan was undeterred. He went on an emotional rant on Snapchat.

In a video, he told his followers: “Hey guys, hope you’re well. Yeah so everything you saw on social media today, it is real. Obviously me and Faryal have both decided to move on – well, I’ve decided to walk away… nothing’s been hacked and obviously it’s just a tough time we both have to go through.

“We have to both move forward because it’s not healthy for any of us and I’m just not happy with the way I get treated by her and everything else. So look, I wish her every best for the future and I’m in Dubai at the moment and I’m doing some training and stuff but I don’t want you guys to worry.

“I am staying strong and I just want to say a big thank you for all your support but yeah. What’s done is done. Everything I posted on social media today was true.”

The thirty-year-old posted a screenshot, via his Twitter account, of an alleged Snapchat conversation between his wife and Anthony Joshua as proof that the two were allegedly having an affair.

He accompanied the image with a caption saying, “Faryal moved on quick. Always mentioned to me how much she wanted to be with another guy, from all people another boxer.

Subsequent tweets read: “Left my family and friends for this Faryal. I’m not hurt but another fighter. I’m making it public. You getting the divorce #Golddigger.

“Lol moved up in the weight classes lol. Trust me I ain’t the jealous type. No need to send me pictures of the men your talking to #disgusted.”

Having realised what her estranged husband was doing, Faryal backtracked on her initial claims of a hack and joined in exchanging verbal accusations with him via her Twitter account.

She wrote: “Actually trying to ruin someone’s life like this is a low blow. Especially someone who’s been there for you through every cheating scandal and stuck by your side when your own parents screwed you over.

“It’s ok. I’ll stay quiet. I won’t let YOUR dirty laundry out in public. Because I’m better than that.

“I’m not sure if it’s your family tweeting for you. But I’m not the one who been in the papers for cheating.

“Stop making false things up. Accusing other boxers just because your boxing career is finished. Man up amir.

“After all these years. I’ve always defending a cheat, always stuck around for him, always had his back. And I’m called a gold digger?

“LOL! He’s given me jack s*** — I pay house bills and bills for my daughter myself! It’s like I’m a single mother while he’s out messing.”

Anthony Joshua, who had quietly monitored the exchange, came out an hour later to refute the cheating accusations, which he cleverly spun with a pun.

The boxer, in a post via his Twitter account, insisted he and Faryal had never met, let alone had an affair.

The heavyweight champion, who’s prepping for a fight, posted a clip of Shaggy’s 2000 hit song ‘It Wasn’t Me’, tweeting, “Bantz aside, I hope you guys can resolve your situation or this is a hack as we have never even met”.

He finished it up with: “Plus I like my women BBW.”

This fiasco is coming barely months after Amir had a rift with his family in a public feud, which he would later credit his wife for resolving.

He had posted a Facebook message at the time saying: “My dad and I at the pak v ind cricket match last weekend. We both had a great time together. Faryal and I decided to put everything behind us. She played a big part in helping me move forward. Life is too short.

“A lot has happened but my wife and I have accepted to move forward with a clean heart. We hope to expect the same from others ???? Ameen.”

The couple has been married for four years and were last pictured together just five days ago in Dubai during Faryal’s 26th birthday.
