Atunyota Akpobome, the ace comedian better known as Alibaba, says Basketmouth and AY Makun once lived in his boys’ quarters (BQ) in Lekki, Lagos.

Last year, Basketmouth and AY confirmed they were not on talking terms after they were spotted avoiding each other at an event.

In March, AY said his misunderstanding with Basketmouth started in 2006 over money he is yet to receive for a show he anchored for him.

In a recent episode of the Honest Bunch podcast, Alibaba addressed the feud between the two comedians.

He said he had reached out to the duo to advise them to sort out their differences because it is “not good for their image”.

The ace comedian said Basketmouth and AY lived “in boys quarters (BQ) with me back in the days”.

Alibaba added that he manages his relationship with the comedians without taking sides.

“I have told them that it is not good for their image and that they need to sort it out,” he said.

“That is the best that I can do. I can’t say you must start talking to this person. They are adults and I have told them that this is not good.

“Like the time Basketmouth said he cannot find a picture of him and AY. I went to open an album. So I just knew it was emotions at play.

“When you think about it, these are people who were living in boys quarters (BQ) with me back in the days.

“Everybody will eat from the same place. Except for Bovi who did not come stay with us at the time. All the rest, we practically just lived together in Lekki.

“So I don’t take sides and I manage the relationships that I have with them without letting the other person’s relationship affect it.”

In October, Basketmouth apologised to AY, who he referred to as “my guy”.

He asked his colleague to forgive him, adding that “I just want us to live in peace and harmony”.
