AY and Basketmouth, the two Nigerian heavyweight comedians, on Thursday, avoided contact with each other at an event in Lagos amid their lingering feud.

The pair turned up for the event, which was a reception ahead of the 15th Headies Awards billed to hold in Atlanta in September.

The event took place at the US consul general’s residence in Ikoyi on Thursday night.

The gathering witnessed the presence of some of the crème de la crème of Nollywood and the music industry.

Those who attended the event include Osas Ighodaro, Bovi, D’banj, Yemi Shodimu, and Okey Bakassi among others.

Basketmouth spent most of the evening on the stage alongside Bovi while AY was among the audience.

The pair, however, stayed away from each other throughout the event — despite visibly going past each other on several occasions.

When TheCable Lifestyle approached AY for a conversation after the event, the comedian refused to make any comment.

The entertainer, however, promised to speak “very soon and comprehensively” on the rift he said started in 2006.

AY had recently opened up on the frosty relationship between them in an interactive session with fans on Instagram.

The 50-year-old comedian and actor said he has been avoiding Basketmouth, whose real name is Bright Okpocha, for the sake of his sanity.

“He has been battling with an uncontrollable superiority complex for the longest. So, avoiding his incessant childishness only became necessary for my own sanity,” he added.

Basketmouth is yet to react to AY’s recent comment as of the time of this report.

But in August 2021, he had spoken about his feud with AY, saying “he messed with loyalty”.
