The film star and Banky W tied the knot at a decorated wedding ceremony in 2017 and announced the arrival of Hazaiah, their first child together, in February last year.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday to mark their child’s first birthday, Etomi revealed that she suffered postpartum haemorrhage after Hazaiah’s birth.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is a blood loss of 500 ml or more within 24 hours after birth.

According to WHO, PPH is the leading cause of maternal mortality in low-income countries and the primary cause of nearly one-quarter of all maternal deaths globally.

In the lengthy post, Etomi appreciated God that she did not die despite battling the condition.

“A year ago, God saved my life after suffering a postpartum haemorrhage and I’m still here only because he had his way. It’s been a year filled with lots of love, joy, peace and laughter,” she wrote.

On his part, Banky W described their baby boy as everything the family prayed for, adding that he is “our perfect gift from God.”

The singer also dropped an account number for people who wish to gift their baby a birthday present.

In April last year, the couple had recounted their struggles trying to have a baby, how they opted for IVF, had a miscarriage, and the eventual arrival of Hazaiah.
