Lionsgate, the American film production and film distribution studio, has acquired the rights to distribute ‘A Soldier’s Story II’, a 2020 blockbuster Nigerian film, in North America.

Martin Gbados, the producer of the action-packed movie, who broke the news via his Instagram page, expressed his excitement over what he described as the “first Nigerian film distributed by Lionsgate”.

He also explained that the deal will include video on demand and television distribution across the United States and Canada.

He added that video streaming platforms such as Google Play movies, Vusu, and Amazon video will all be showing the movie.

“We’re global now. This is the feeling you have when Lions Gate Studios is distributing your movie @soldierstory2 across America and Canada,” he wrote alongside a video of him dancing.

“First Nigerian Movie distributed by Lions Gate. All Streaming platforms and Pay TV in America are showing A Soldier’s Story 2- Return from the Dead.

“Apple iTunes, Google Play movies, Vudu, Amazon video, Microsoft store, Xbox FandangoNOW, YouTube, Redbox, Comcast Xfinity, and DIRECTV.”

The film was written and directed by Frankie Ogar, an award-winning director, and shot in Nigeria.

It featured movie stars such as Somkele Iyamah, Daniel K. Daniel, Ihuoma Linda Ejiofor, and Sambasa Nzeribe.

‘A Soldier’s Story’, the first part of the film, premiered in 2018 to positive reception after which it was nominated for several awards.

The sequel, which premiered to impressive critical reviews on December 11, 2020, starred Eric Roberts, Hollywood Actor, and his fellow countrymen, John J. Vogel and Berit Glaser.
