In a recent Instagram post, Dee One revealed that the attempt is driven by a desire to “test the limit of possibility”.

The former BBNaija housemate described comedy as “a powerful form of healing and connection” and stated that his ultimate goal is to inspire others by proving that all dreams are achievable.

The record-breaking attempt is scheduled to take place from October 2 to October 4 at the Pallazzo Lagos in Opebi, Ikeja.

“There comes a time in every man’s life when he must test the limit of what is possible. Not just for himself, for his people, his craft, and generations watching. Comedy has always been more than laughter to me. It is healing, it’s connection, it’s power,” he said.

“Now I am taking the power to the stage the world cannot ignore. From the second, third, and fourth of October, I will be attempting the world record for the longest stand-up comedy performance the world has ever seen.

“Over 40 hours of non-stop laughter, storytelling and history in the making. This is not just my journey; it is about showing every dreamer that no stage is too big and no goal is too high.

“I may stand alone with the microphone when I carry the spirit of every legend that has done comedy before me and those who are presently doing everything possible to bring laughter to the world.

“From the funny guy next door to the stand-up comedian, the skit-makers, the funny actor. I believe record are meant to be broken, but legends live forever.”

The current record for the longest stand-up comedy marathon is held by American comedian Benny Elbows, who achieved a time of 40 hours, 16 minutes, and 48 seconds in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 25, 2025.

In February, Nigerian entertainer Laff Ijuo attempted the longest stand-up record for 50 hours.
