In a recent interview on Oyinmomo, the film star revealed that the actor died during a festive period in 1996.

She disclosed that he appeared fine before their trip to Kwara during the holidays, but fell ill after a family event, which she believed may have been due to stress.

Moji said Ade Love was first taken to Ilorin for treatment, but insisted on returning to Lagos to see his doctor.

According to her, despite being admitted to the hospital in Lagos, his condition worsened, and he passed away on December 30, 1996.

“This year marks the 29th anniversary of his passing. We had travelled for the annual Christmas and New Year festival in our hometown in Kwara state, and we also had an event around that time,” she said.

“After the event, he fell ill, possibly due to the stress from the party, so he was taken to Ilorin for treatment. But he insisted on seeing his personal doctor in Lagos.

“However, he wasn’t sick before we left Lagos. He was later admitted to the hospital in Lagos. On December 30, we were informed that he had passed away.”

Moji also revealed that Ade Love had subtly hinted at his impending death before leaving for treatment.

“He had a younger wife, and when he was going back to Lagos for treatment, he asked her if she wouldn’t follow him. She said she had things to sort out and would come to meet him later,” she added.

“He then responded, ‘What if you don’t meet me again?’ But we didn’t read much into it at the time. His wives told him to stop being negative, until December 30, when we were told he was dead.”

The film star described 1997 as a “painful year filled with mourning”. She also fondly remembered her father as “a good man through and through”.

“1997 was a difficult year for our family. We were heartbroken and in mourning,” she said.

“Ade Love was a good father through and through. If given the chance, I would choose to be his daughter again. May his soul rest in peace,” she said.

Ade Love, born Adeyemi Afolayan, was a pioneering actor, producer, and director known for classic films like ‘Ajani Ogun,’ ‘Ija Ominira,’ and ‘Taxi Driver.’
